Cross-Sectional Shape Optimization of Cylindrical Elastomer Spring for Sensitive Cargo Container

High-value sensitive cargoes are often damaged by low-frequency vibration and shock of containers during land rail transport processes or mixed processes. Therefore, a dedicated cylindrical elastomer spring that absorbs transmitted into the container has been developed. This study developed an optimal shape using polyurethane material instead existing rubber spring. Elastomer requires design satisfies target stiffness strength nonlinear finite element analysis. In order to develop for cargo container, constant was obtained hyperelastic behavior test natural rubber, based on this, necessary new predicted. addition, structural analysis performed ABAQUS obtain spring, with I-SIGHT software. As result sum squared difference minimization comparison algorithm, it found C10, C20, C30 same characteristics as obtained. three optimization algorithms, Hooke–Jeeves multi-island genetic Latin hypercube, yielded maximum principal strain 0.244 through cross-sectional design. It this value about 39% lower than in use. compression load-displacement actually product, confirmed correlation coefficient between predicted measured 0.928.
